MW1x
Hybrid VST3 synthesizer · VA, samples, noise, layers
MW1x is a hybrid engine, not a VA-only cliché. Each oscillator is a virtual-analog wave, a sample, or white or pink noise—same envelopes, filters, pan, and modulation for all of them. Per oscillator you also get a parallel layer (own wave, detune, mix, optional attack/decay envelope) and a click/transient exciter for attack that does not follow the main amp ADSR. Keyboard zones and per-zone programs cover multi-sample keys, splits, and drum-friendly one-shots in one plugin.
What you get
One voice path built for pads and leads, rompler-style sample programs, analog-style drums (pitched body + noise + click), filtered noise sweeps, and piano- or stab-style attacks—without leaving subtractive muscle and host automation behind.
-
Hybrid oscillator sources
Classic VA shapes (sine, triangle, square, saw—with band-limited edges where it matters), one sample slot per oscillator, and white or pink noise as first-class waveform choices. Everything runs through the same per-osc amp envelope, pan, modulation, and insert filter path.
-
Parallel layer per oscillator
An extra source on each oscillator: independent waveform, detune, and mix—like a thickener or “almost a third oscillator” without a second voice. Optional attack/decay-only envelope on the layer, with a transient tail (sparkle then gone) or follow mode so the layer rides the parent envelope after the attack. Run it through the insert filter with the main tone, or post-filter so air and hiss stay bright.
-
Click / transient exciter
A dedicated percussive front edge: filtered noise burst or a short sine “knock,” with its own time and level—not a copy of the main amp ADSR. Shape the spectrum for stick noise, hammer knock, beater click, or digital punch. Summed in mono to L+R for a tight transient stage, alongside the existing voice fade-in that keeps note-ons clean.
-
Filters, drive, and sum path
Multimode filters per oscillator with optional drive and a high-quality oversampled path when you want it. A sum filter sculpts the combined oscillator output per voice before the stereo bus—subtractive depth from body to air.
-
Modulation & LFOs
A fixed modulation matrix compiled to a sparse, acyclic runtime: pitch, filter, pan, level, and master-bus targets. Tempo-synced LFOs including simple pattern modes—bounded work on the audio thread, no open-ended mod graphs.
-
Zones & programs
Up to 16 MIDI zones with per-zone programs—map ranges or keys to different samples and settings for keyboards, splits, and kits. Preset data carries zone-style sample references with the parameter tree for recall and packs.
-
Poly & mono
Full polyphony for normal playing, plus mono with stack, legato, and sample-accurate MIDI when timing has to land on the sample—bass, drums, and tight lines.
-
Bus effects & platform
Delay, reverb, and width on the post-voice stereo bus. Built in C++20 with JUCE 8; VST3 is the lead format for launch.
